The 2026 Quebec Writers\u2019 Federation College Writers Award<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nDeadline: June 1, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 2026 Quebec Writers\u2019 Federation (QWF) College Writers Award<\/a> will be awarded to a Quebec resident who is enrolled in one of the sponsoring colleges.<\/p>\n

The prize will go to the best short story<\/strong>, poem<\/strong>, or work of non-fiction<\/strong> written in English between August 14, 2025 and June 1, 2026. The winner will be announced at the QWF Awards Gala in Montreal on Monday, November 9, 2026, and receive a $1,000 cash prize.<\/p>\n

Rules and Regulations <\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Maximum length for short stories and non-fiction is 4000 words. Maximum length for poems is 100 lines.<\/li>\n
  2. The writer must have been enrolled in one of the following colleges during the 2025-2026 academic year: Champlain Regional College (Lennoxville, Saint-Lambert, St. Lawrence), Dawson, Heritage, John Abbott, Marianopolis, or Vanier College.<\/li>\n
  3. The work must have been written in English between August 14, 2025, and June 1, 2026.<\/li>\n
  4. Applicants must have had a primary residence in the province of Quebec for at least one year at the time of submission.<\/li>\n
  5. The submission must have been written in English (translations are not eligible).<\/li>\n
  6. A total of 24 semifinalists (3 from each campus) will be chosen by college staff and forwarded to the QWF jury.<\/li>\n
  7. Three finalists will be chosen by a jury assembled by the QWF. The names of all finalists will appear in the QWF\u2019s online literary journal, carte blanche<\/em>, and on the QWF website. The winner will be announced at the annual QWF Literary Awards Gala held on November 9, 2026.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
