{"id":2561,"date":"2023-04-24T14:33:37","date_gmt":"2023-04-24T18:33:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/awards-scholarships\/?page_id=2561"},"modified":"2026-04-09T17:08:40","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T21:08:40","slug":"quebec-writers-federation-college-writers-award","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/awards-scholarships\/external-awards\/quebec-writers-federation-college-writers-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Quebec Writers\u2019 Federation College Writers Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>The 2026 Quebec Writers\u2019 Federation College Writers Award<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Sponsored by:<br \/>\nChamplain Regional College, Dawson, Heritage, John Abbott, Marianopolis, and Vanier Colleges.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Winner Receives $1,000<br \/>\nDeadline: June 1, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The 2026 Quebec Writers\u2019 Federation (QWF) <a href=\"https:\/\/qwf.org\/prize\/qwf-college-writers-award\/\">College Writers Award<\/a> will be awarded to a Quebec resident who is enrolled in one of the sponsoring colleges.<\/p>\n<p>The prize will go to the best <strong>short story<\/strong>, <strong>poem<\/strong>, or work of <strong>non-fiction<\/strong> written in English between August 14, 2025 and June 1, 2026. The winner will be announced at the QWF Awards Gala in Montreal on Monday, November 9, 2026, and receive a $1,000 cash prize.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rules and Regulations <\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Maximum length for short stories and non-fiction is 4000 words. Maximum length for poems is 100 lines.<\/li>\n<li>The writer must have been enrolled in one of the following colleges during the 2025-2026 academic year: Champlain Regional College (Lennoxville, Saint-Lambert, St. Lawrence), Dawson, Heritage, John Abbott, Marianopolis, or Vanier College.<\/li>\n<li>The work must have been written in English between August 14, 2025, and June 1, 2026.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants must have had a primary residence in the province of Quebec for at least one year at the time of submission.<\/li>\n<li>The submission must have been written in English (translations are not eligible).<\/li>\n<li>A total of 24 semifinalists (3 from each campus) will be chosen by college staff and forwarded to the QWF jury.<\/li>\n<li>Three finalists will be chosen by a jury assembled by the QWF. The names of all finalists will appear in the QWF\u2019s online literary journal, <em>carte blanche<\/em>, and on the QWF website.
