Prerequisite: Completion of Arabic Level 1 or equivalent knowledge of basic Arabic vocabulary and simple sentence structures.

Overall Goals:

• In this course, students will develop basic language skills.
• The course will focus on oral comprehension and expression.
• Expand students’ vocabulary and communication skills to discuss everyday topics such as food, shopping, travel, and daily activities.
• Develop students’ ability to describe daily routines and talk about past events using present and past tense verbs.
• Strengthen speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills through practical communication activities and short dialogues in Modern Standard Arabic.
• Increase students’ confidence in participating in simple conversations in Arabic related to daily life.

Intended Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, students will be able to:

• Have a simple conversation in Arabic.

• Vocabulary activities
• Modeling and practicing short conversations
• Pair and group activities
• Pronunciation activities
• Listening activities (short conversational audio recordings)
• Reading activities (Skimming and scanning tasks)
• Grammar activities

Required Material:

Students may choose to purchase either a digital book or a paper book, not both.
The purchase should only be made after the first class.

• Device: PC (Windows 11) or Mac OS 13 (Ventura or newer).
  Laptops or desktops are recommended for full functionality.

  Students may be able to participate using Chromebooks or tablets, but features may be limited.

• Internet Connection: Minimum – 10 Mbps download / 2 Mbps upload.
  Recommended – 25 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload.

  Wired internet connection is preferred for stability.

• Audio & Video: Headphones or earbuds with a microphone.
  Webcam (built-in or external) is recommended.
