New award honours Dr. Catherine Fichten’s legacy of mentorship and inclusion

Applications are now open for a new award honouring the late Dr. Catherine Fichten, longtime Dawson Psychology professor, active researcher, mentor, and co-director of the Adaptech Research Network.
The Dr. Catherine Fichten Future Researcher Award will be given to a graduating student with a disability who shows passion for pursuing academic research in psychology or a related field.

Best of the Dawson Blues 2025

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ student athletes who go above and beyond both at school and on the field/court/ice were honoured at the annual Athletics Awards evening on May 2.
Noteworthy award recipients include hockey player Noémie Bastien who received the Rob Springer Memorial Award, basketball players Isaiah Graham-Roache and Regan Cornford who each received the Adele Ivy McDonald Walton Award, basketball player and cross-country runner Mia Simpson who received Female Athlete of the Year, basketball player Raphael Joseph who was named Male Athlete of the Year, rower Nicole Motta who was named Female Academic Athlete of the Year and cross-country runner Tian Yi Xia who was named Male Academic Athlete of the Year.

Salina Haynes named first recipient of Troy Cornford Team Player Award

A new award celebrating exceptional team spirit has been presented for the first time to Dawson women’s basketball player Salina Haynes. The Troy Cornford Team Player Award honours the memory of Troy Cornford, who passed away in December 2024 after a courageous battle with ALS. It is funded by donations in his memory to the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Foundation.
